For those who haven't heard yet, I've moved to the DC Area and found an apartment in Alexandria just a couple miles from work. Any other deviants out here?

Seems every time I make a journal entry it's due to new hardware and this time is no different. Last Jan I got myself a Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens. My first impressions are:1 IS is worth the money, though I really wish someone would build a body with sensor based IS which would disable itself if an IS lens is attached. 2 Fast lenses rock, which I already knew from my prime lenses. 3 Stop down a bit and this lens is plenty sharp, combined with the IS to prevent camera shake from ruining that sharpness and my photos have seen improvement. I've purchased several things today, and soon as I get them I hope to put them to good use and upload some more photos. 1. Ricoh GX100 'point and shoot' digital camera (with DVF and extra battery) 2. Speedlight 430ex (with diffuser) 3. Sekonic L-308S Flashmate (light meter) 4. Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW (camera backpack/sling) The Ricoh was a hard choice, I had been looking at the Panasonic DMC-LX2K, and I think the photos would be nicer from the DMC-LX2K, native 16:9 ratio is cool and their images stabilization is supposed to be great, BUT in the end the Ricoh had nice wheel controls which work most like my SLRs and I simply don't want to
